The Bad Astronomy site is reporting that Space.com’s story about possible life on Mars has blown up. There apparently is no upcoming article in Nature, nor did researchers Carol Stoker and Larry Lemke engage in a private meeting with space officials to discuss the implications of their work along Spain’s Rio Tinto. This is the first I have heard of it, and while I doubt it is anything
resembling actual evidence of Martian life, I wonder and hope it is
something with at least a little substance. Anyone else know?

It would not surprise me if there were such life forms on certain
planets in other parts of the galaxy. Certainly the bit about
subsurface life is still possible for the Red Planet.
