Quite a few people involved with Tau Zero and many of the Project Icarus team are planning to be in Orlando at the end of the month for the 100 Year Starship Symposium. I know about most of these, but if you haven’t already told me that you are planning to attend, please leave me a note in the comments to this post. I’m looking forward to meeting many Centauri Dreams readers there.
If You’re Going to the Starship Conference…

I will be there, I am really looking forward to it.
Me too!
… be sure to wearrrr some flowers in your hairrr …
Sorry, that just popped into my head. Sadly, I cannot go. Maybe it’s just as well — so many interesting talks and panels scheduled at the same time that I’d just frustrate myself! :) The exotic technology and propulsion topics on the schedule are especially intriguing to me.
Just tell me that they will not only have video records of the conference but that a book will be published about the meetings as well. Thank you.
Paul,
I will be there…it is just up the road from me down in Naples, Florida, and I would not miss it.
Michael Spencer
Larry, I understand that a documentary is going to be made, and I know the papers will be published by JBIS.
I look forward to meeting you in person, Paul.
I live in the Netherlands so I can not come it is a little to far away. they really going to talk a lot about FTL travel. Have they found something ?
I’ll be there! I’m very excited to attend. Maybe we can organize a Centauri Dreams meetup? :)
Good to hear about readers going to the conference — I look forward to meeting those who do!
Henk, sorry you can’t be there. Re FTL, no, there is nothing startling to report, just speculations and ‘what ifs’ among a lot of other propulsion ideas that have nothing to do with FTL.
I am going!
I am going. Orlando is only a 4.5 hr drive from my home in Tallahassee. Not sure what I’ll see of interest there but who knows.
I just started a new job here so I cannot go. Keep us posted. updates also on google+ ?
Yes, I’ll try to keep updates coming on Google+ and via the blog as possible, also on Twitter — there should be a Twitter hashtag for the event, and as soon as I know it, I’ll post it here.
Paul,
I am a poor community college student, if I knew i could through a sleeping bag on someones hotel room floor I would go look at bus tickets or southwest or something…………………………….
financial aid check does not come int ill Oct
I am a big fan of world ships…………………..

I will attend this meeting. I hope to return to France with my head filled with dreams that interstellar travel will be possible in the future at least for probes.
Bella iniziativa.
Antonio’s message via Google Translate:
Good initiative. And in Italy, will never be possible to organize something similar meeting, high-level scientific, organized like this in Florida?
I still vividly in mind, the memory of the scientific talk given by Mr. Gilster in Aosta, a few years ago …
By the way, I noticed that in the near future, will not be organized in Italy new scientific meetings (open to the public) devoted to the search for extrasolar planets: correct me, if I’m wrong …
I will be there.
Greetings from Canada!
I will be there… if I get US Visa (I am still a foreign citizen) and if I finish my paper on time, considering I have 4 days left and it’s only 2/5 complete ;)
Dennis
I’m part of a filmmaking team that is developing a documentary about the current activities surrounding interstellar travel. We will be filming at the Symposium and interested in speaking with attendees prior to the event. If you are attending and interested in speaking with us, please email me a little about yourself and how you’ll be participating in the symposium. We are looking to speak to individuals presenting papers and applying to the 100YS grant, as well as enthusiasts and young scientist. I can be reached at info [at] flickerflacker.com
Thanks,
Suzanne

I’ll be there. I’m presenting a paper showing how to solve the dust impact problem at near light speeds.
Jim
I’ll be there. Conferences as fascinating as this one don’t come along that often.
I plan to go since I have never heard of a technical interstellar flight conference in the US before.
Maybe have been at AIAA or AAS conferences, but nothing substantial that I know of.
Mostly its been at International Astronautical Union conferences.
I’ll be there, presenting a paper called “34 Year Starship.” Looking forward to meeting you.
It is not yet decided, but I hope I will be there!
Please let me wrote a little almost-OT for Antonio:
As far as I know, unfortunately there are not similar events organized in Italy, not even in Europe. It would really be nice to put together a major event on advanced space exploration in EU…
I managed to organize a small event within the Star Trek Italian Club Convention this year, where we had several conferences on interstellar exploration and extra-solar planets. Hopefully we will repeat next year.
Paul, seems a good idea to have a chat in Orlando.
I will be going to the conference. Would look forward to meeting other fans of fast interstellar travel.
